Welcome to Monkey Puzzle

Hello. I’m Irena and I am the Nursery Manager at Monkey Puzzle Southgate. My team and I are dedicated to giving every child the best start in life by caring for and supporting them to play, learn and grow in a positive and stimulating nursery environment.

What Makes Us Special

Fantastic outdoor space

Our outdoor facilities ensure all our children can make the most of the outdoors during their nursery day. The baby garden is the perfect place for babies to explore a new space while enjoying some fresh air, with features such as an outdoor gazebo, planting area, mirrors, and chalk boards encouraging sensory play and discovery. The over 2’s garden offers plenty of opportunities for imaginative and active play, with a race track, water wall, sheltered area, chalk boards, and planting spaces. We place great importance on the opportunity for children to learn and grow in the great outdoors, whatever the weather.

At Monkey Puzzle Southgate, our passionate, friendly, and welcoming staff will instantly make you feel right at home as they are the heart of our nursery, and they pride themselves on ensuring they provide your child with the highest level of care. We have strong links with the local community, as an established Early Years provider, we believe in the importance of supporting our local area and being involved in local events.

Our fully qualified team provide expert care and support to all our children, offering unique activities, tailored to meet each child’s needs and interests. Full SEND support is available where required for those children who need it.

Stimulating the imagination

Hartbeeps

Hartbeeps combines live music, rhythm and sensory play to support babies’ and toddlers’ development. These sessions are parent/carer-led and designed to enhance listening, social interaction and emotional bonding through creative soundscapes and movement. Benefits: supports early brain development • boosts communication and bonding • provides rich sensory stimulation.

Sports

Active play sessions focus on fundamental movement skills like running, jumping, throwing and catching, all delivered in a safe and encouraging setting. Games are structured to be inclusive and fun, promoting teamwork and healthy habits. Benefits: improves gross motor skills • builds confidence • promotes physical health.

Gardening

Our gardening programme gets children outside to plant, water and observe growing things. Sessions teach seasonal cycles, caring for the environment and sensory exploration, from soil to seeds to sprouts. Perfect for curious minds who love getting their hands dirty. Benefits: connects children to nature • teaches responsibility • encourages observation and patience.

Cooking & Baking

Hands-on cooking and baking sessions introduce children to basic kitchen skills, safe food handling and healthy ingredients. Activities are sensory-rich, mixing, smelling, tasting and teach counting, following instructions and independence. Recipes are simple, child-friendly and nutritious. Benefits: develops fine motor skills • encourages healthy eating • supports early maths and language.

🎶Theme of the week: Nursery Rhymes 🎵

Our baby room has been full of music as our children explored nursery rhymes through sensory trays and large imaginative set ups. This experience has encouraged engagement, curiosity and plenty of joy 💛

🌟Do you ever sing to your child during play, nappy changes or bedtime? Here is why these moments are so important:

🌈Singing makes you feel happy and is so good for mental health. It releases happy hormones called endorphins that make you feel happy and positive 💙

🌈Singing to babies prepares them for communicating later on in life. Singing with toddlers and children helps to strengthen the muscles in their lips and tongue which encourages clearer speech and expands their vocabulary 💚

🌈Singing supports brain development. Learning to sing along to to your favourite songs helps build your memory skills, just think how many songs you know by heart without even trying 💛

🌈Don't forget all those songs with actions like "heads, shoulders, knees and toes" which help develop your children's co-ordination, fine motor and gross motor skills. Something like action songs which may seem so easy for us can actually be quite a challenge for them 💜

🍕Pizza Party in the Baby Room 🍕

Our little chefs got busy making their very own pizzas and they loved it💛

They spread the sauce and sprinkled the cheese onto the base and chose different ingredients to add to their pizza 🍕

The children loved eating their pizzas at snack time and sharing this experience together

As part of our Al about me topic our preschool children created their own self portraits and the took it even further with loose part portraits ✨

❤️The children loved sharing what makes them special and their artwork showed so much personality and pride. They showed creativity and curiosity as they explored a range of loose parts to represent themselves in different ways.

How To Find Monkey Puzzle Southgate

Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Southgate, is proudly located in the heart of Southgate in the N14 postal sector. The nursery is at the end of Burleigh Parade, on the corner of Burleigh Gardens. Southgate Underground Station is just a 2 minute walk away, giving great access to the Piccadilly Line. This makes us well located for serving families in the town of Southgate.

Monday to Friday for 51 weeks per year, (closed for the week between
Christmas and New Year)
